Dear John Marshall and Marshall-Walker Alumni & Friends,

We hope that this email finds you in good health and great spirits! We would like to again thank those who were able to the support the JM vs TJ Alumni basketball game earlier this year. We had a successful event for our initial fundraiser which allowed us to donate $1,000.00 dollars to both John Marshall and Thomas Jefferson High Schools, respectively. We look forward to doing it again within the next year with anticipation of an even greater participation and attendance from our alumni!

The momentum from the game along with tremendous alumni interest and encouragement has launched the creation of a non-profit entity, which was established to assist John Marshall High School in multiple endeavors including: 1) needed school repairs, 2) restoration of missing sport banners, 3) support for student athletes both academically and on the field, 4) assisting parents and boosters to raise money and, 5) coordinate a capital funding campaign to build a state-of-the-art sports complex.

"Friends of John Marshall" has met numerous times over the past five months, which has allowed the development of a plan to execute the mission statement and objectives of the group. The group is open for membership to any former John Marshall and/or Marshall-Walker alumni who desire to work toward providing financial assistance and other resources to our beloved alma mater.

We are seeking the assistance of all alumni in this endeavor. Below are just a few ways that John Marshall/Marshall-Walker alumni can become involved:

Work on the sub-committees to help organize fundraising events, promote school activities. Regular bi-monthly meetings are generally every other Thursday, often via conference call.
Assist with outreach and the gathering of contact information of other alumni in order to disseminate updates on activities, fundraisers and opportunities to participate; work with parents to assist students directly.
Commit to making a one-time financial contribution or making small monthly contributions over a 12 month period.
Provide your specific skill, professional experience and/or talent to assist the non-profit with operations, management and other aspects; (construction, accounting, legal, etc.)
Donate items directly to school's athletic department including, sports beverages, meals and supplies for the upcoming athletic season.
Assist with researching and verifying the dates of all past District, Regional and State Championships captured by John Marshall and/or Marshall-Walker.

As you may or may not know, all of our sports banners were taken out of the gym and were lost or misplaced. Thus, one of our first major goals will be to replace all the combined school's athletic banners from the past 60 years.

We feel strongly that displaying our sports achievements will instill a sense of honor and pride in our great past to our current student-athletes, as well as to the school as a whole. Your help with researching this data is essential to the importance of honoring our past while ushering in our future.

If you are interested in participating in any of these efforts, please contact any committee member that you may know or send an email to *****@gmail.com and also provide your name, email address, contact telephone numbers and year of graduation. Please spread the word to other alumni and friends. As plans continue to develop, alumni will receive email updates, status on actions taken and the overall progress of our efforts.

The Richmond Public School Education Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 2001 will collect and disseminate any resources collected on behalf of John Marshall. They have an account already established for John Marshall's capital campaign project to build a sport complex project entitled "Sowing Seeds of Greatness".

We appreciate your continued support! We are proud and thankful for all of the great energy and efforts of our fellow alumni. Working together as a solid unit, we can achieve great things and have a tremendous impact on our school, students and the community as a whole. We are working toward John Marshall High School gaining an even greater reputation as "The Joy and Pride of Northside".

Thank you so much! We look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

FRIENDS OF JOHN MARSHALL, LLC
